Job Brief
The Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Operator is responsible for operating, testing, and maintaining unmanned aerial systems in a variety of environments, including agricultural, industrial, and exploratory settings. This role requires proficiency in handling advanced UAV technology to collect visual data, assist in infrastructure inspections, and support engineers in the design and testing of robotic systems. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with UAV operations and a strong understanding of aviation regulations, data collection methodologies, and equipment maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Operate unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to capture high-resolution imagery and data for various projects.
- Test and maintain UAV equipment to ensure optimal performance and adherence to safety standards.
- Analyze and interpret data collected from UAV flights for reporting and decision-making purposes.
- Collaborate with engineers to design and enhance UAV systems and robotics applications.
- Conduct pre-flight and post-flight inspections to verify the functionality of UAV systems.
- Monitor UAV flights remotely and troubleshoot any operational issues during missions.
- Ensure compliance with all Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and industry best practices.
- Provide training and support to new UAV operators on equipment and operational protocols.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in aviation, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
- Valid FAA Remote Pilot Certificate or equivalent certification for UAV operation.
- Proven experience operating UAVs in various environments and conditions.
- Strong technical skills in UAV maintenance and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with UAV flight planning software and data analysis tools.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to work in compliance with safety regulations and industry standards.
- Experience with robotics systems and data collection methodologies is a plus.
