Job Brief
As a Tugboat Mate, you will play a pivotal role in the safe and efficient operation of tugboats and other water vessels. Responsibilities
- Assist in the navigation and operation of tugboats and other water vessels during docking and undocking procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.
- Communicate effectively with crew members and shore personnel to coordinate vessel movements.
- Perform regular inspections and maintenance on equipment to ensure operational readiness.
- Document and report any incidents or anomalies during vessel operations.
- Participate in safety drills and training sessions to enhance emergency preparedness.
- Support the captain in executing operational plans and directives.
- Stay updated on maritime laws and regulations affecting tugboat operations.
Requirements
- Valid U.S. Coast Guard license for Tugboat Mate or equivalent certification.
- Prior experience working on tugboats or similar watercraft in a marine environment.
- Strong knowledge of navigation, maritime safety, and vessel operation protocols.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse crews.
- Ability to perform physical tasks and remain alert during extended hours on the water.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and attention to detail in high-pressure situations.
- Basic understanding of vessel maintenance and repair processes.
