Job Brief
The Steamfitter is responsible for assembling, installing, altering, and repairing piping systems that transport water, steam, air, and other liquids or gases. This role requires proficiency in installing heating and cooling equipment, as well as mechanical control systems. Responsibilities
- Assemble and install pipe systems for water, steam, air, and other fluids using appropriate tools and techniques.
- Alter existing piping systems to accommodate changes in layout or functionality.
- Repair and maintain pipeline systems to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Install heating, cooling, and mechanical control systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings.
- Conduct inspections and tests on piping systems to identify leaks and other issues.
- Collaborate with engineers and other tradespeople to ensure project specifications are met.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and codes to maintain a safe working environment.
- Document work performed and maintain accurate records of materials and equipment used.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a recognized apprenticeship program in steamfitting or plumbing.
- Valid steamfitter or plumbing license/certification as required by local regulations.
- Proven experience as a Steamfitter or in a similar role within the construction or mechanical industry.
- Strong knowledge of pipe systems, installation techniques, and troubleshooting methods.
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools related to pipe fitting and installation.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
