Job Brief
The Stave Saw Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and tending wood sawing machines, including advanced computer numerically controlled (CNC) equipment. This role requires a keen eye for precision and attention to detail to ensure high-quality cuts and adherence to safety standards. Ideal candidates will have experience in woodworking and familiarity with CNC operations, coupled with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Set up and calibrate wood sawing machines, ensuring accurate measurements and settings.
- Operate CNC equipment for precision cutting of wood materials.
- Monitor machine operation, troubleshooting issues as they arise to minimize downtime.
- Inspect finished products for quality assurance and compliance with specifications.
- Maintain equipment and perform routine maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to optimize production processes.
- Document production data and report any irregularities to management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in woodworking or CNC operation preferred.
- Proven experience as a Stave Saw Operator or in a similar woodworking role.
- Strong understanding of wood sawing machinery and CNC programming.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Basic understanding of quality control standards in wood manufacturing.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy materials as needed.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
