I feel compelled to share my observations about the entire process, particularly regarding how the recruiter handled various aspects of it – starting from the initial contact and scheduling phone or video meetings with recruiters to discuss job roles, all the way through to arranging interviews with potential employers.
I was initially explained what the employer was looking for and what skills I possessed that was best suited for the role, base on the information we discussed, I tailored my interview responses as such, only to be told that they were looking for something quite different to what was discussed with the recruiter.
Furthermore, I’ve I had to proactively follow up with recruiter multiple times via email or phone calls just to obtain updates on the progress of my application. As someone with a sales background, it’s second nature to follow up persistently until a deal is closed. However, despite assurances that I would receive a callback, I often received the classic email response along the lines of “I have tried to call you…” – when in reality, my phone was right beside me all day, eagerly awaiting that promised call.
It’s frustrating when such incidents occur, as it feels like a breach of trust and poor time management. I understand that everyone can get swamped with work from time to time, but it’s essential to maintain transparency. If you’re overloaded or facing time constraints, just admit it; it’s far better than leaving someone hanging.
