Job Brief
The Wastewater Operator is responsible for the operation and control of wastewater treatment processes and systems to ensure the effective transfer and treatment of water and wastewater. This role requires a strong background in environmental services, along with technical skills in operating control boards and monitoring equipment. Successful candidates will possess problem-solving abilities and attention to detail to ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor machinery and equipment used in wastewater treatment processes.
- Control and adjust processes using control boards to optimize the treatment of wastewater.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to ensure proper operation.
- Collect and analyze samples of water and wastewater to assess treatment efficiency.
- Maintain accurate records of operations, maintenance, and compliance with regulatory standards.
- Identify and troubleshoot issues in the treatment process and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with maintenance personnel for repairs and upgrades on treatment equipment.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental regulations during all operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training in wastewater treatment is preferred.
- Valid state certification as a Wastewater Operator (Class I, II, III, or IV) is highly desirable.
- Proven experience in wastewater treatment operations, with a solid understanding of water quality standards.
- Strong analytical skills for interpreting data and making informed decisions.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations and safety practices in wastewater management.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills to report findings and collaborate with team members.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and data analysis.
