Job Brief

The Wardrobe Supervisor plays a crucial role in the theatrical and entertainment industry, overseeing the selection, fitting, and maintenance of costumes for cast members. Responsibilities

  • Select and fit costumes for cast members, ensuring accuracy in accordance with production needs.
  • Maintain and repair costumes, addressing any wear and tear promptly to uphold quality standards.
  • Assist with quick costume changes during performances, coordinating with cast and crew for seamless transitions.
  • Collaborate with costume designers to implement their creative vision while managing wardrobe logistics.
  • Organize and maintain costume inventory, ensuring all items are accounted for and stored properly.
  • Conduct fittings and alterations as necessary, ensuring costumes are tailored to individual performers.
  • Oversee wardrobe staff, providing training and support to promote best practices in costume management.
  • Coordinate laundry and cleaning schedules for costumes to maintain hygiene and appearance standards.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Wardrobe Supervisor or in a related role within the entertainment industry.
  • Strong knowledge of costume design, fabric types, and garment construction techniques.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, to accommodate performance schedules.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with diverse teams including designers, directors, and performers.
  • Experience with costume alterations and repairs; proficiency in sewing and garment construction is preferred.
  • Degree in Costume Design, Fashion Design, or a related field is a plus.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard wardrobe management software is an advantage.
