Job Brief
As a Tree Specialist, you will leverage advanced climbing and rigging techniques to effectively prune and maintain trees and shrubs, ensuring safety and enhancing the aesthetic and health of urban and rural landscapes. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience with tools such as handsaws, clippers, and power pruners, and be comfortable working at heights using truck-mounted lifts. You will play a vital role in maintaining right-of-way for roads, sidewalks, and utilities while preserving the overall value of trees in your care.
Responsibilities
- Utilize climbing and rigging techniques to safely prune and remove dead or excess branches from trees and shrubs.
- Implement proper pruning techniques to enhance the health, appearance, and safety of trees in various environments.
- Operate and maintain climbing gear, handsaws, power pruners, and truck-mounted lifts according to safety standards.
- Assess tree health and conditions to determine appropriate maintenance or treatment strategies.
- Collaborate with clients to discuss tree care needs, providing expert recommendations and solutions.
- Document work performed, including maintenance schedules and tree health assessments.
- Adhere to local regulations regarding tree maintenance and utility right-of-way standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience in tree care, arboriculture, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of tree species, growth patterns, and pruning techniques.
- Certification in arboriculture (e.g., ISA Certified Arborist) is preferred.
- Ability to operate power tools and climbing equipment safely and effectively.
- Understanding of safety regulations and best practices in tree maintenance.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with clients and team members.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to work at heights and in varied outdoor conditions.
