Job Brief

As a Transportation Engineering Technician, you will apply civil engineering principles to assist in the planning, design, and oversight of transportation projects, including roads, bridges, and transit systems. Working under the direction of engineering staff or physical scientists, you will conduct field surveys, prepare technical reports, and ensure compliance with industry standards. Ideal candidates possess strong analytical skills, a solid understanding of transportation engineering concepts, and proficiency in design software.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design and drafting of transportation infrastructure projects using CAD software.
  • Conduct field surveys to collect data on existing transportation conditions and structures.
  • Prepare technical reports and documentation to support engineering analyses and project proposals.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to analyze traffic patterns and assess transportation needs.
  • Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to engineering specifications and safety standards.
  • Evaluate and recommend improvements for existing transportation systems and facilities.
  • Utilize GIS tools for mapping and analyzing transportation networks.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Transportation Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Transportation Engineering Technician or in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and other relevant design software.
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal transportation regulations and standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects.
