Job Brief
As a Telephone Switchboard Operator, you will be responsible for operating telephone business systems and switchboards to manage incoming, outgoing, and interoffice communications. Your role involves efficiently relaying calls, providing information to callers, and accurately recording messages. Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain telephone switchboard systems to ensure seamless communication across departments.
- Relay incoming calls to appropriate personnel and handle outgoing calls promptly and efficiently.
- Provide accurate information to callers regarding company services, departments, and personnel.
- Record and manage messages for staff members when they are unavailable.
- Monitor phone systems for service disruptions and report any issues to technical support.
- Assist with administrative tasks as required, including scheduling appointments and coordinating meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while handling sensitive information.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in telecommunications is a plus.
- Proven experience as a switchboard operator or in a similar customer service role.
- Familiarity with multi-line phone systems and call-routing software.
- Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with diverse audiences.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant computer applications.
