Job Brief

As a Substation Electrician, you will play a crucial role in the maintenance, inspection, testing, and repair of electrical equipment in generating stations and substations. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in electrical systems, demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing high-voltage equipment, and have a commitment to safety standards. Effective communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, and maintain electrical equipment, including transformers, circuit breakers, and in-service relays.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems to ensure operational integrity.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and enhance equipment reliability.
  • Document maintenance activities, test results, and repairs performed in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve system performance and reliability.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and industry best practices during all maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Respond to emergency calls and outages to restore services in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in electrical systems preferred.
  • Valid electrician’s license or relevant certification, such as NETA or NICET.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Substation Electrician or in a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical theory, AC/DC circuits, and power distribution systems.
  • Proficient in the use of electrical testing equipment, including multimeters and oscilloscopes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
