Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Stone Chimney Mason with extensive experience in constructing and repairing stone structures, including chimneys, piers, walls, and abutments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in masonry techniques, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work with various types of stone materials. This role requires proficiency in laying walks, curbstones, and specialized masonry for vats, tanks, and floors, ensuring durability and aesthetic appeal in all projects.
Responsibilities
- Construct and repair stone chimneys, piers, walls, and abutments following industry standards
- Lay walks, curbstones, and specialized masonry for vats, tanks, and floors
- Measure and cut stone materials accurately to fit specifications
- Mix mortar and other bonding agents to ensure strong structural integrity
- Inspect completed work for quality and compliance with safety regulations
- Collaborate with other construction professionals to execute project plans effectively
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition to ensure safety and efficiency
- Provide guidance and training to apprentices and junior masons as needed
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Stone Mason or similar role in the masonry industry
- Strong knowledge of masonry techniques, tools, and materials
- Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings
- Excellent physical stamina and hand-eye coordination
- Certification in masonry or related field is a plus
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in various weather conditions
