Job Brief
The Sorority Mother plays a pivotal role in fostering a supportive and nurturing environment within sorority residences, including secondary school and college dormitories. This position is responsible for coordinating daily activities, managing household supplies, and addressing maintenance needs. The ideal candidate should possess strong problem-solving skills, experience in residential life, and the ability to provide guidance or refer residents to appropriate counseling resources. The Sorority Mother will be instrumental in promoting a positive community atmosphere while ensuring the well-being of all residents.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate and oversee daily activities and events within the sorority residence to promote engagement and community.
- Manage inventory of household supplies, order necessary materials, and maintain an organized environment.
- Assess and determine needs for maintenance, repairs, and furnishings to ensure a safe living space.
- Support residents in problem-solving and decision-making while facilitating access to counseling resources when needed.
- Maintain accurate household records, including resident assignments and incident reports.
- Enforce house rules and regulations to promote a respectful and harmonious living environment.
- Act as a liaison between residents and external resources, including campus services and community organizations.
- Foster an inclusive and positive culture within the sorority by encouraging open communication and collaboration among residents.
Requirements
- Previous experience in residential life management or similar roles in educational settings.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively engage with residents and staff.
- Ability to handle conflicts and provide conflict resolution in a professional manner.
- Organizational skills with attention to detail for maintaining records and managing supplies.
- Knowledge of campus resources and support services available to residents.
- Experience in event planning and coordination to enhance community activities.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred.
