Job Brief
The Shrimp Pond Laborer is responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of shrimp farming activities. This role involves attending to live aquacultural species, ensuring their health and welfare, and contributing to the overall productivity of the shrimp pond. Candidates should possess hands-on experience in aquaculture, a strong understanding of aquatic species management, and the ability to perform physically demanding tasks in an outdoor environment.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and maintain the health and welfare of shrimp and other aquatic animals.
- Feed and water shrimp and other aquatic creatures according to established feeding schedules.
- Assist in the harvesting and stocking of shrimp to optimize yield and quality.
- Perform regular water quality tests and maintain optimal conditions for shrimp growth.
- Inspect shrimp for signs of disease or injury and report issues to the farm manager.
- Administer medications and vaccinations as needed to ensure the health of the shrimp population.
- Maintain cleanliness of ponds and surrounding areas to prevent contamination and disease spread.
- Record daily activities and observations related to the health and growth of shrimp.
- Assist in the maintenance of equipment and facilities used in the shrimp farming process.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant experience in aquaculture preferred.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Basic knowledge of shrimp farming practices and aquatic animal husbandry.
- Ability to operate and maintain farming equipment and tools.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new aquaculture technologies and practices.
