Job Brief
As a Ship Painter Helper, you will support skilled painters, paperhangers, plasterers, and stucco masons in various painting and finishing tasks aboard ships. This entry-level role requires a strong ability to follow directions, assist with the preparation and application of paint, and maintain a clean workspace. Responsibilities
- Assist painters in preparing surfaces for painting by cleaning and sanding as needed.
- Hold and supply tools and materials to painters during painting operations.
- Mix paints and other materials in accordance with specific instructions.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, including proper disposal of waste materials.
- Help with the application of paint, varnish, and other finishes under supervision.
- Adhere to safety protocols and best practices while on the job site.
- Report any issues or concerns to lead painters or supervisors promptly.
- Participate in training and development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Basic knowledge of painting techniques and materials.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Familiarity with safety standards in the construction and painting industry.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality work.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
- Previous experience in a construction or painting environment is a plus.
