Job Brief
As a Semi Truck Driver, you will be responsible for operating a tractor-trailer combination or a truck with a Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of at least 26,001 pounds. This role requires a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and involves long-haul transportation of goods, ensuring timely and safe deliveries. Ideal candidates will have a strong understanding of road regulations, excellent driving skills, and the ability to maintain accurate transportation logs.
Responsibilities
- Operate and drive trucks to transport goods over long distances while adhering to all safety regulations.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure the vehicle is in safe working condition.
- Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle service, and cargo activity to comply with regulations.
- Load and unload cargo as needed, ensuring proper handling and securement of goods.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other team members to coordinate schedules and routes.
- Adhere to all traffic laws and regulations, including weight limits and hazardous material handling.
- Monitor and report any vehicle maintenance needs and perform basic maintenance tasks.
- Provide excellent customer service during deliveries and address any issues or concerns promptly.
Requirements
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with a clean driving record.
- Proven experience as a truck driver with a strong understanding of transportation regulations.
- Ability to operate a tractor-trailer combination and other heavy vehicles safely.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to adhere to schedules.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with team members and customers.
- Ability to lift heavy loads and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading cargo.
- Familiarity with GPS and navigation systems to plan optimal routes.
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance procedures and ability to perform minor repairs as needed.
