Job Brief
The Scraper Operator plays a pivotal role in construction and earthmoving projects by operating various types of heavy equipment, including scrapers, motor graders, and bulldozers. This position requires a skilled operator with a deep understanding of excavation, grading, and site preparation processes. The Scraper Operator is responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe operation of machinery while adhering to industry standards and safety regulations.
Responsibilities
- Operate heavy construction equipment, including scrapers, bulldozers, and motor graders, to perform excavation and earthmoving tasks.
- Grade and level earth surfaces for construction sites, roads, and other infrastructure projects.
- Conduct pre-operation inspections and routine maintenance to ensure equipment safety and functionality.
- Follow safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe work environment on-site.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to achieve project goals and timelines.
- Monitor equipment performance and report any malfunctions or required repairs.
- Accurately measure sites and adjust machinery settings as needed for optimal performance.
- Assist with pouring concrete and other hard surface pavements as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certifications in heavy equipment operation preferred.
- Proven experience operating heavy machinery, specifically scrapers and earthmoving equipment.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, safety standards, and equipment maintenance.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and site plans.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
- Valid driver’s license; commercial driver’s license (CDL) may be required based on project needs.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and physically demanding environments.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team setting.
