Job Brief
The Sail Repairer is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, and repair of sails used in various watercraft, ensuring optimal performance and longevity. Responsibilities
- Inspect sails for damage and wear, determining necessary repairs or modifications.
- Perform sail repairs, including patching, stitching, and reconditioning using industry-standard techniques.
- Maintain and service sewing machines and other tools used in sail repair.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of projects and adherence to quality standards.
- Document repair processes and maintain records of completed work for inventory and client tracking.
- Advise clients on sail maintenance best practices to extend the lifespan of their sails.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and techniques to enhance repair services.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Sail Repairer or in a similar marine repair role.
- Strong knowledge of sail fabrics, including Dacron, Mylar, and other specialty materials.
- Proficiency in sewing techniques and the use of sewing machines and related tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
