Job Brief
The Rotary Drill Operator Helper supports extraction craft workers in the mining and drilling industry by assisting with various tasks to ensure efficient operations. This entry-level position requires hands-on involvement in supplying equipment, maintaining a clean work area, and performing basic duties under the guidance of skilled operators. Responsibilities
- Assist rotary drill operators in setting up and dismantling drill rigs and equipment.
- Provide necessary tools and equipment to drilling personnel to facilitate operations.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Support in the monitoring of drill performance and report any irregularities.
- Participate in the transportation of equipment and materials to and from job sites.
- Help with minor maintenance and repairs of drilling equipment as needed.
- Follow safety guidelines and protocols to minimize hazards in the workplace.
- Assist in the training of new apprentices and less experienced helpers.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; relevant vocational training is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of rotary drilling and mining operations.
- Ability to operate hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects.
- Familiarity with safety practices and regulations in construction and mining.
- Willingness to work in outdoor environments and under varying weather conditions.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license may be required depending on job location.
