Job Brief
The Rotary Derrick Operator is responsible for rigging derrick equipment and efficiently operating pumps to circulate mud or fluid through the drill hole. Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain rotary derrick equipment and associated machinery.
- Circulate drilling mud and fluids through drill holes to ensure well integrity.
- Monitor and adjust pump rates and pressures to optimize drilling performance.
- Assist in rigging and de-rigging operations, ensuring equipment is safely and efficiently handled.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance on equipment to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with drilling crews to ensure adherence to safety regulations and operational protocols.
- Report any operational issues or equipment malfunctions promptly to supervisors.
- Maintain accurate logs of drilling operations, equipment usage, and maintenance activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Rotary Derrick Operator or similar role in the oil and gas sector.
- Strong understanding of drilling operations and fluid dynamics.
- Valid certification in safety and drilling operations (e.g., H2S Awareness, Rig Pass).
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Physical stamina and ability to work in challenging environments, including extreme weather conditions.
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations and industry safety standards.
- Willingness to work on a rotational schedule, including nights and weekends.
