Job Brief

As a Rod Buster, you will play a critical role in reinforcing concrete structures by positioning and securing steel bars or mesh within concrete forms. This position requires a solid understanding of construction practices, with an emphasis on safety and quality. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in the construction industry, particularly in rebar installation, and will be skilled in using various tools and machinery to ensure structural integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Position and secure steel reinforcement bars (rebar) and mesh in concrete forms according to project specifications and blueprints.
  • Utilize hand tools, rod-bending machines, and blowtorches to cut, bend, and shape steel bars as needed.
  • Interpret and understand engineering drawings and specifications to accurately install reinforcement materials.
  • Ensure all work complies with safety regulations and industry standards for quality and construction practices.
  • Collaborate with other construction team members to coordinate work schedules and ensure timely project completion.
  • Inspect and assess completed work for quality assurance and compliance with structural requirements.
  • Maintain tools and equipment to ensure proper functioning and longevity in the field.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and report any hazards or unsafe conditions to supervisors.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in construction or fabrication are a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Rod Buster or in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Strong knowledge of concrete reinforcement techniques and materials, including rebar and mesh types.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and project specifications.
  • Proficiency in using hand tools, rod-bending machines, and other construction equipment safely and effectively.
  • Physical stamina and strength to handle heavy materials and work in various environmental conditions.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills to collaborate with project managers and other construction staff.
  • Commitment to safety practices and a strong understanding of OSHA regulations and guidelines.
