Job Brief
As a Road Sign Installer, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the safety and functionality of highways, municipal and rural roads, and airport runways. This position involves installing, repairing, and maintaining road signs, highway markers, guard rails, and snow fences. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in road maintenance and a strong understanding of safety regulations. Key skills include attention to detail, physical stamina, and the ability to operate various tools and equipment safely.
Responsibilities
- Install and maintain road signs, highway markers, and traffic control devices to ensure optimal visibility and compliance with regulations.
- Conduct routine inspections and repairs of guard rails and snow fences to enhance road safety.
- Patch broken or eroded pavement to maintain road integrity and usability.
- Mow and clear brush along roadways and rights-of-way to improve visibility and safety for drivers.
- Operate heavy machinery and hand tools safely and effectively during installation and repairs.
- Assist in snow plowing operations to ensure safe road conditions during winter weather.
- Document maintenance activities and report any significant road issues to management.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant vocational training preferred.
- Proven experience in road maintenance or related fields.
- Knowledge of traffic control regulations and safety standards.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery, power tools, and hand tools.
- Strong physical fitness and ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license; commercial driver’s license (CDL) preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
