Job Brief

As a Respiratory Therapist, you will assess, treat, and provide care for patients experiencing breathing disorders. You will be responsible for the administration of respiratory care modalities, including the supervision of respiratory therapy technicians. The role requires you to initiate and conduct therapeutic procedures, maintain accurate patient records, and effectively manage respiratory equipment to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Strong communication skills and a commitment to patient-centered care are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and diagnose patients with respiratory conditions through comprehensive assessments.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and clinical guidelines.
  • Administer respiratory therapies, including oxygen therapy, nebulization, and mechanical ventilation.
  • Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment protocols as necessary to enhance respiratory health.
  • Educate patients and families about respiratory care techniques and disease management.
  • Supervise and mentor respiratory therapy technicians and support staff.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot respiratory equipment, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
  • Document patient care activities accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems.

Requirements

  • Valid state licensure as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
  • Proven experience in a clinical setting, particularly in critical care or emergency medicine.
  • Strong knowledge of respiratory therapy protocols, procedures, and pharmacology.
  • Proficient in operating respiratory therapy equipment and troubleshooting technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient interaction.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications preferred.
