Job Brief

The Residential Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of residential facilities, including secondary school and college dormitories or group homes. This role involves coordinating activities, managing maintenance and supplies, and providing support to residents. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and problem-solving skills, with experience in residential management and a commitment to enhancing the living environment for all residents.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise daily activities in residential facilities to promote a safe and supportive living environment.
  • Manage the ordering of supplies, furnishings, and equipment necessary for the operation of the facility.
  • Assess and determine the need for maintenance and repairs, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate household records, including occupancy documentation and incident reports.
  • Assign rooms to residents based on established criteria and preferences.
  • Provide assistance to residents in problem-solving situations and facilitate referrals to counseling resources when necessary.
  • Develop and implement programs and activities to enhance resident engagement and community building.
  • Collaborate with staff and external stakeholders to address resident needs and improve facility operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, education, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in residential management, preferably in educational or group home settings.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage diverse groups effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with residents and staff.
  • Knowledge of safety and maintenance protocols relevant to residential facilities.
  • Ability to handle crisis situations with composure and professionalism.
  • Proficiency in record-keeping and administrative tasks, including budgeting and inventory management.
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is a plus.
