Job Brief

As a Regional Planner, you will play a pivotal role in developing comprehensive plans and programs for land use and physical facilities within towns, cities, counties, and metropolitan areas. This position requires a strong understanding of urban planning principles, zoning regulations, and community engagement processes. The ideal candidate will possess analytical skills, project management experience, and a passion for sustainable development to support the growth and improvement of regional areas.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct land use analysis and develop regional planning strategies that align with community goals and regulations.
  • Collaborate with local government officials, community stakeholders, and developers to establish land use policies and zoning regulations.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports, maps, and plans to inform decision-making processes and gain public support.
  • Evaluate the impacts of proposed developments and recommend modifications to enhance sustainability and community well-being.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of existing plans and programs, making adjustments as needed to meet evolving community needs.
  • Facilitate public meetings and workshops to gather input and foster community involvement in the planning process.
  • Utilize Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and other planning tools to analyze data and visualize planning outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience in regional planning or urban development, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
  • Knowledge of zoning laws, land use regulations, and environmental policies.
  • Proficiency in GIS software and other planning-related technologies.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Professional certification (e.g., AICP) is a plus.
