The Race Book Writer is responsible for facilitating and enhancing the wagering experience for patrons by providing accurate and timely information about various races and sporting events. Responsibilities
- Post and update race and sporting event information to enable patrons to place wagers effectively.
- Assist in the smooth operation of games such as keno and bingo, ensuring compliance with gaming regulations.
- Operate random number-generating equipment and announce winning numbers to patrons in a clear and engaging manner.
- Receive, verify, and accurately record patrons’ wagers, maintaining the integrity of all transactions.
- Scan and process winning tickets presented by patrons, ensuring prompt payout of winnings.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing patron inquiries and resolving issues related to wagering and games.
- Adhere to all state and federal gaming regulations and company policies to ensure responsible gaming practices.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in a related field is a plus.
- Previous experience in the gaming industry or a similar role is preferred.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills to perform accurate calculations and handle cash transactions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with patrons.
- Familiarity with gaming software and ticket processing systems.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Knowledge of racing and sporting events, including rules and betting formats.
