Job Brief
The Quarry Plug And Feather Driller is responsible for the precise separation of rough dimension stone from the quarry mass using specialized tools such as jackhammers, wedges, and chop saws. Responsibilities
- Operate jackhammers and chop saws to effectively drill holes in rock for plug and feather techniques.
- Utilize wedges and feathers to split and separate dimension stone from the quarry mass.
- Inspect drilled holes for quality and precision before applying splitting techniques.
- Maintain and service drilling equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety compliance.
- Collaborate with quarry teams to plan and execute stone extraction operations efficiently.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations to minimize risks in quarry operations.
- Document daily operations, including drilling logs and equipment maintenance records.
- Assist in training new drillers on proper techniques and safety measures.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quarry Plug And Feather Driller or similar role in stone quarrying.
- Strong knowledge of quarrying techniques and tools, including plug and feather methods.
- Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices in a quarry environment.
- Ability to operate heavy machinery and drilling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Physical stamina and strength for lifting and operating equipment in various weather conditions.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with quarry staff.
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications in drilling or quarry operations are a plus.
