Job Brief
As a Puppeteer, you will bring characters to life through the art of puppetry, captivating audiences with your performance skills and creativity. This role requires a blend of artistic talent, physical dexterity, and a strong understanding of storytelling techniques. Ideal candidates will have experience in live performance, a passion for puppetry, and the ability to engage and entertain diverse audiences. Strong communication skills and collaboration with directors, producers, and fellow performers are essential for success in this dynamic role.
Responsibilities
- Perform puppetry in various styles, including string, hand, and shadow puppetry, to convey engaging stories.
- Collaborate with directors and production teams to develop character personalities and performance styles.
- Rehearse and memorize scripts, cues, and blocking to deliver seamless performances.
- Participate in design and construction of puppets, ensuring high-quality craftsmanship and functionality.
- Engage with audiences during performances, adapting to their reactions and fostering an interactive experience.
- Maintain and repair puppets and equipment to ensure optimal performance quality.
- Assist in promotional activities, including workshops, meet-and-greets, and media appearances.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a puppeteer or in a related performing arts role.
- Strong knowledge of puppetry techniques, including manipulation and voice acting.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and take direction from creative leadership.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to connect with audiences of all ages.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform for extended periods.
- Experience in puppet design and construction is a plus.
- A degree in theater, performing arts, or a related field is preferred but not required.
