Job Brief
The Public Transit Bus Driver is responsible for safely operating buses and motor coaches within designated routes, providing exceptional service to passengers while ensuring timely and efficient transportation. Responsibilities
- Operate buses and motor coaches on scheduled routes, ensuring timely arrivals and departures.
- Assist passengers with boarding and disembarking, including managing baggage and mobility devices.
- Collect fares and tickets from passengers while providing accurate change and receipts.
- Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior, adhering to safety and hygiene standards.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure safety and operational integrity.
- Report any mechanical issues or safety concerns to maintenance personnel promptly.
- Provide information to passengers regarding routes, schedules, and service changes.
- Adhere to all traffic laws, regulations, and company policies while driving.
Requirements
- Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in transportation or customer service is a plus.
- Proven experience as a bus driver or in a similar transportation role.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage with passengers effectively.
- Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
- Knowledge of local traffic laws, safety regulations, and public transportation systems.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays as required.
- Basic mechanical knowledge of buses and ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance checks.
