Job Brief

As a Postal Clerk, you will play a vital role in ensuring efficient mail processing and customer service within a United States Postal Service (USPS) post office. This position involves receiving, sorting, and distributing letters and parcels, as well as selling postage, revenue stamps, and money orders. Responsibilities

  • Receive and sort incoming letters and parcels for distribution.
  • Sell postage, revenue stamps, postal cards, and stamped envelopes to customers.
  • Process and fulfill requests for money orders accurately.
  • Examine mail to ensure correct postage is applied.
  • Maintain accurate records of transactions and manage cash drawer effectively.
  • Assist customers with inquiries regarding postal services and products.
  • Organize and place mail in designated pigeon holes or bags for delivery.
  • Perform additional clerical tasks as assigned to support post office operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in business or communications is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a customer service or clerical role, preferably in a postal or retail environment.
  • Strong numerical and organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in operating postal equipment and software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks effectively.
