Job Brief
As a Plastic Jig and Fixture Builder, you will be responsible for setting up and operating various machining equipment, including lathes, milling machines, engraving machines, and jig borers. This role requires proficiency in constructing working models of both metal and plastic components, along with a strong understanding of design specifications and manufacturing processes. Ideal candidates will possess a keen eye for detail, excellent problem-solving skills, and a solid background in precision machining and fabrication techniques.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate lathes, milling machines, engraving machines, and jig borers to produce high-quality jigs and fixtures.
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications to create precise working models of plastic and metal objects.
- Conduct regular maintenance and troubleshooting of machining equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with design engineers to refine and improve prototypes and production fixtures.
- Utilize measuring tools and gauges to verify dimensions and tolerances of finished products.
- Implement quality control measures throughout the manufacturing process to maintain high standards.
- Maintain accurate records of production and process modifications for continuous improvement.
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines while operating machinery and handling materials.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a jig and fixture builder or similar role in precision machining.
- Strong knowledge of machining processes, materials, and fabrication techniques.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and CAD models.
- Hands-on experience with machining equipment, including lathes and milling machines.
- Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Technical degree or certification in machining, manufacturing technology, or a related field.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with safety standards and best practices in a machining environment.
