Job Brief
We are seeking a motivated Plastic Die Maker Apprentice to join our manufacturing team. This entry-level position is ideal for individuals with a keen interest in machining and tool-making. The apprentice will analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, and operate machine tools to create and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, and gauges. Strong attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and a willingness to learn are essential for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Analyze specifications and blueprints to determine machining requirements.
- Lay out metal stock and prepare materials for machining processes.
- Set up and operate machine tools such as lathes, mills, and grinders.
- Fit and assemble parts to construct and repair dies and cutting tools.
- Maintain equipment and tools in accordance with safety and quality standards.
- Collaborate with senior die makers to learn and apply industry best practices.
- Perform routine inspections and quality checks on finished components.
- Document work processes and maintain accurate records of projects.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in machining is a plus.
- Basic knowledge of machining principles and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with measurement tools such as calipers and micrometers.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn new skills and techniques in die-making.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
- Basic computer skills; familiarity with CAD software is an advantage.
