Job Brief
The Piano Performance and Pedagogy Professor is responsible for delivering high-quality education in piano performance and music pedagogy. This role requires a combination of teaching and research, focusing on developing students’ skills in performance, composition, and teaching methodologies. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in music theory, performance techniques, and pedagogy, with an emphasis on fostering a creative learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver engaging course content in piano performance and pedagogy.
- Conduct individual and group lessons to enhance students’ technical and interpretive skills.
- Mentor students in performance preparation and career development.
- Evaluate student performance and provide constructive feedback to support growth.
- Engage in research activities related to music pedagogy and performance techniques.
- Collaborate with faculty across the arts to integrate interdisciplinary approaches.
- Organize and participate in departmental recitals, masterclasses, and workshops.
- Contribute to curriculum development and program assessment initiatives.
Requirements
- Doctorate in Music Performance, Music Education, or a related field preferred.
- Extensive experience in piano performance and music pedagogy.
- Proven ability to teach and inspire students at the collegiate level.
- Strong knowledge of music theory, history, and performance practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to engage in scholarly research and publish findings in relevant journals.
- Familiarity with contemporary teaching technologies and methods in music education.
- Active participation in professional music organizations is a plus.
