Job Brief
As a Pewterer, you will design, fabricate, adjust, repair, and appraise jewelry and decorative items made from pewter and other precious metals. This role requires a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of metalworking techniques, including precision casting and mold modeling. Responsibilities
- Design and create unique jewelry pieces and decorative items using pewter and other precious metals.
- Utilize precision casting techniques and modeling to produce high-quality molds for jewelry production.
- Set precious and semi-precious stones in jewelry, ensuring quality and aesthetic appeal.
- Adjust and repair existing jewelry items, restoring them to their original condition.
- Appraise jewelry pieces, providing accurate evaluations on quality and value.
- Maintain and operate metalworking tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their design preferences and customization requests.
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in jewelry design and metalworking techniques.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Pewterer or in a similar role within the jewelry or metalworking industry.
- Strong knowledge of metalworking techniques, including casting, polishing, and setting stones.
- Proficiency in using hand tools and machinery specific to jewelry fabrication.
- Ability to interpret design sketches and technical drawings accurately.
- Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship skills.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and creativity in design.
- Certification in jewelry making or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also managing individual projects.
