Job Brief

As a **Perfusionist**, you will play a crucial role in managing cardiopulmonary bypass machines during surgical procedures, ensuring optimal patient outcomes. You will collaborate closely with surgeons and other healthcare professionals to monitor and maintain physiological parameters throughout operations. This position requires a strong understanding of cardiac physiology, excellent technical skills, and the ability to respond effectively in high-pressure environments. Candidates should possess relevant experience in perfusion techniques and hold necessary certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor heart-lung machines and other perfusion equipment during cardiac surgeries.
  • Prepare and maintain perfusion equipment, ensuring it is sterile and functional.
  • Assess patient data and collaborate with the surgical team to develop optimal perfusion strategies.
  • Monitor vital signs and physiological parameters throughout the surgical procedure, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Document all relevant patient information and perfusion data accurately for medical records.
  • Stay updated on advancements in perfusion technology and techniques to improve patient care.
  • Participate in training and educating new staff on perfusion protocols and equipment.
  • Respond to emergencies swiftly and effectively, ensuring patient safety at all times.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Cardiovascular Perfusion or equivalent experience.
  • Current certification as a Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP).
  • Proven experience in a clinical perfusion setting, with extensive knowledge of cardiac physiology.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with healthcare teams.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and perfusion software.
  • Valid state licensure as required, with ongoing professional development in perfusion practices.
