The Payroll Examiner is responsible for ensuring compliance with laws and regulations governing financial transactions within the payroll department. Responsibilities
- Examine payroll records for accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Verify and authenticate payroll data to ensure proper financial reporting.
- Monitor payroll processing for discrepancies and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and assist in preparing payroll tax returns.
- Collaborate with HR and finance teams to resolve payroll-related inquiries and issues.
- Conduct audits of payroll processes and recommend improvements for efficiency and compliance.
- Stay updated on changes in labor laws and payroll regulations affecting financial institutions.
- Prepare reports regarding payroll compliance and discrepancies for management review.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Payroll Examiner or similar role in financial compliance.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processing, tax regulations, and labor laws.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Certification in payroll management (e.g., CPP, FPC) is a plus.
