Job Brief
The Park Police Officer is responsible for maintaining order and ensuring public safety within designated park areas by enforcing local, state, and federal laws. This role requires a strong commitment to community service, proactive policing, and the ability to effectively handle emergencies. Responsibilities
- Patrol designated park areas to ensure the safety of visitors and the protection of property.
- Enforce laws and ordinances relating to park regulations, traffic control, and public safety.
- Direct traffic and manage crowd control during events and peak visitation times.
- Investigate incidents, accidents, and complaints, documenting findings and preparing reports.
- Apprehend and arrest individuals engaged in illegal activities within park boundaries.
- Provide assistance and guidance to park visitors, enhancing their overall experience.
- Collaborate with local law enforcement agencies and community organizations to promote safety initiatives.
- Conduct educational programs regarding safety, wildlife protection, and park regulations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field preferred.
- Certification as a law enforcement officer in accordance with state and local regulations.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective community engagement.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in high-stress situations.
- Physical fitness to perform law enforcement duties, including patrolling on foot and responding to emergencies.
- Knowledge of park management principles and environmental protection regulations is a plus.
- Previous experience in law enforcement, particularly in a park or community setting, is highly desirable.
