Job Brief
The Oyster Sorter is responsible for grading, sorting, and classifying unprocessed oysters and other agricultural products based on size, weight, color, and overall condition. Responsibilities
- Grade oysters according to established quality standards and specifications.
- Sort and classify unprocessed food products based on size, weight, and color.
- Inspect oysters for defects or quality issues, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of sorting areas and equipment.
- Document sorting outcomes and report any anomalies to management.
- Collaborate with team members to optimize sorting processes and improve efficiency.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent contamination and ensure product integrity.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in food safety is a plus.
- Proven experience in sorting or grading agricultural products, preferably in seafood.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to identify quality discrepancies.
- Excellent manual dexterity and ability to handle oysters safely.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and adapt to changing demands.
- Basic proficiency in documentation and reporting processes.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations in the food industry.
