Job Brief

As an Organist, you will perform on one or more musical instruments, primarily the organ, to enhance worship services, concerts, and various events. Your role requires a deep understanding of music theory, excellent sight-reading skills, and the ability to play a diverse repertoire ranging from classical to contemporary. You will collaborate with choirs, soloists, and other musicians, ensuring high-quality musical performances in live settings or recordings. The ideal candidate should possess prior experience in a similar role and demonstrate adaptability in various performance environments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform organ music for worship services, concerts, and special events, ensuring high-quality sound and performance.
  • Collaborate with choirs, vocalists, and other instrumentalists to create cohesive musical arrangements.
  • Prepare and rehearse music selections, demonstrating proficiency in various styles and genres.
  • Conduct sound checks and manage audio equipment during live performances or recordings.
  • Engage with the audience to create an enjoyable and memorable musical experience.
  • Maintain the organ and other musical instruments, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
  • Stay updated with new music trends and techniques to continually enhance performance quality.
  • Record sessions for promotional materials or archival purposes as needed.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an organist or in a similar musical performance role.
  • Strong proficiency in playing the organ and a background in music theory.
  • Ability to read sheet music and perform a wide range of musical genres.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Experience with sound recording equipment and live performance setup.
  • Degree in Music or a related field is preferred but not always required.
  • Knowledge of music software and digital audio workstations is a plus.
  • Flexibility to adapt to various performance settings and audiences.
