Job Brief
The Optical Engineering Technologist plays a critical role in the design, development, and testing of optical systems and components. Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and development of optical systems, including lenses, lasers, and fiber optics.
- Conduct experiments and tests to evaluate optical performance and reliability.
- Utilize software tools for optical simulation, design, and analysis.
- Prepare technical documentation and reports, presenting findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate with engineers and scientists to improve product designs and manufacturing processes.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations in optical engineering practices.
- Perform troubleshooting and maintenance of optical equipment and systems.
Requirements
- Associate degree in Optical Engineering Technology, Physics, or a related field; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Proven experience in optical design and testing, with a strong understanding of optical principles.
- Familiarity with optical design software such as Zemax, Code V, or similar applications.
- Basic knowledge of laser systems, imaging systems, and photonics.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical information clearly.
- Experience with laboratory equipment and testing procedures related to optics.
