Job Brief
The Oil Well Cable Tool Operator plays a crucial role in the oil and gas exploration industry by setting up and operating various drills to extract underground oil and gas or obtain core samples for testing. Responsibilities
- Set up and operate cable tool drilling equipment for oil and gas extraction.
- Conduct core sampling to collect geological data for analysis.
- Monitor drilling operations to ensure adherence to safety regulations and operational standards.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on drilling equipment to ensure optimal performance.
- Collaborate with geologists and other specialists to assess drilling conditions and adjust techniques as necessary.
- Document drilling progress, equipment performance, and any issues encountered during operations.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and promote sustainable practices in drilling operations.
- Train and mentor junior operators and support staff on drilling techniques and safety measures.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; relevant technical training is a plus.
- Proven experience as an oil well cable tool operator or in a similar drilling role.
- Strong understanding of drilling equipment, tools, and techniques used in oil and gas exploration.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in drilling operations.
- Ability to work in physically demanding environments and adverse weather conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel to various job sites as required.
- Certification in drilling operations or relevant safety training is preferred.
