Job Brief

As a Nuclear Reactor Operator, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of nuclear reactors. Your primary duties will include manipulating control rods, starting and stopping equipment, monitoring reactor performance, and recording critical data in logs. You will implement emergency procedures as necessary and respond to abnormalities, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of nuclear safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and control nuclear reactor systems to maintain optimal performance and safety.
  • Adjust control rods and manage reactor power levels in accordance with safety regulations.
  • Monitor reactor conditions and operational parameters, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Record and analyze data related to reactor operations, maintaining accurate logs for review.
  • Implement emergency protocols and respond to system anomalies effectively and swiftly.
  • Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to address equipment malfunctions.
  • Conduct routine inspections and tests of reactor systems to ensure operational integrity.
  • Participate in training programs to stay updated on best practices and regulatory changes.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering or a related field preferred.
  • Valid Nuclear Reactor Operator License or certification from a recognized authority.
  • Proven experience operating nuclear reactors or similar complex technical systems.
  • Strong understanding of nuclear physics, thermodynamics, and reactor safety protocols.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze and respond to operational issues.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and report findings.
  • Willingness to work in a high-stakes environment under strict safety regulations.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, as required by the operational schedule.
