Job Brief

The Music Minister is responsible for conducting, directing, planning, and leading instrumental or vocal performances by various musical groups, including orchestras, bands, choirs, and glee clubs. This role entails fostering a vibrant musical environment within the community, creating original musical compositions, and collaborating with other church leaders to enhance worship experiences. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of musical theory, and experience in a ministry setting.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and organize music programs for worship services and special events.
  • Direct rehearsals and performances, ensuring high-quality musical execution.
  • Collaborate with pastoral staff to select music that aligns with worship themes.
  • Create original music compositions and arrangements to enhance the church’s musical repertoire.
  • Recruit, train, and develop musical talent within the congregation.
  • Oversee the maintenance and organization of musical instruments and equipment.
  • Facilitate regular feedback sessions with musicians to foster growth and improvement.
  • Engage the congregation in music ministry through outreach and community events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music, Music Education, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a Music Minister, Choir Director, or in a similar role.
  • Strong proficiency in conducting, vocal techniques, and instrumental performance.
  • Knowledge of music theory and ability to read and write musical notation.
  • Experience with music software and audio equipment for performance enhancement.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with diverse groups.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training.
