Job Brief

As a Metallurgist, you will evaluate materials and develop processes for manufacturing metals and alloys that meet specialized design and performance specifications. Your expertise will be crucial in innovating new applications for existing materials, including composites and ceramics. This role requires an analytical mindset and a strong understanding of material science and engineering principles, along with hands-on experience in metallurgy and related fields.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct material evaluations and perform metallurgical analyses to ensure compliance with design specifications.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for metals, alloys, and composite materials.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate metallurgical solutions into product designs.
  • Research and implement new materials and processes to enhance product performance and sustainability.
  • Utilize advanced testing techniques to assess the properties and behavior of materials under various conditions.
  • Document findings and prepare technical reports to communicate results to stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in material technologies.
  • Ensure adherence to safety and environmental regulations in all metallurgical processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline; a Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Proven experience in metallurgical engineering or materials development, typically 3-5 years.
  • Strong knowledge of metallurgy, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals, composites, ceramics, and polymers.
  • Proficiency in material characterization techniques such as SEM, XRD, and mechanical testing.
  • Familiarity with CAD software and material simulation tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Effective communication skills to present technical information clearly.
  • Certification from a professional engineering body is a plus.
