Job Brief
The Metal Milling Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and tending to milling or planing machines to mill, plane, shape, groove, or profile metal or plastic workpieces. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining processes and experience with CNC milling machines. Responsibilities
- Set up and calibrate milling machines to specifications for metal and plastic workpieces.
- Operate CNC and conventional milling machines, ensuring adherence to production schedules.
- Monitor machining operations to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting on milling equipment.
- Inspect finished products for quality and accuracy using precision measuring tools.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine machining requirements.
- Adjust machine settings to optimize production and maintain safety standards.
- Document production processes, troubleshooting issues, and machine maintenance records.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in machining is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Metal Milling Machine Operator or similar role.
- Proficient in operating CNC milling machines and understanding G-code programming.
- Strong knowledge of machining principles, tools, and materials.
- Familiarity with precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
