Job Brief
As a Marine Firefighter, you will be responsible for controlling and extinguishing fires on maritime vessels and in marine environments. You will respond to emergency situations where life, property, or the environment is at risk. This critical role requires expertise in fire prevention, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, search and rescue operations, and disaster assistance. Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to fire alarms and emergency situations on marine vessels and in maritime locations.
- Control and extinguish fires using specialized equipment and techniques.
- Conduct fire prevention inspections and safety assessments to mitigate risks.
- Provide emergency medical services to injured individuals as needed.
- Manage hazardous materials incidents, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
- Perform search and rescue operations during maritime emergencies.
- Assist in disaster response efforts, coordinating with other emergency services.
- Maintain and inspect firefighting equipment and apparatus to ensure operational readiness.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; further education in firefighting or emergency services preferred.
- Valid firefighting certification and marine firefighting training.
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials response and safety regulations.
- Strong physical fitness and ability to perform under pressure in hazardous environments.
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Experience in maritime operations or firefighting in marine settings is a plus.
