Job Brief
The Marine Electronics Technician is responsible for the installation, adjustment, and maintenance of mobile electronics communication equipment on various watercraft and mobile platforms. This role requires a solid understanding of sound, sonar, security, navigation, and surveillance systems. Ideal candidates will possess hands-on technical experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in diverse environments.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain mobile electronics communication systems, including navigation and sonar technologies.
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in electronic equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electronic systems and components.
- Collaborate with engineers and project managers to integrate new technologies and systems into existing platforms.
- Provide technical support and training to end-users on the operation of electronic equipment.
- Document service reports and maintain accurate records of installations and repairs.
- Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and regulatory changes affecting marine electronics.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Marine Electronics Technician or in a similar role related to mobile electronics.
- Strong knowledge of marine electronics systems, including navigation, sonar, and communication technologies.
- Technical certifications relevant to marine electronics (e.g., NMEA, ABYC) are preferred.
- Proficient in troubleshooting electronic systems and using diagnostic tools.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
