Job Brief

The Marine Electronics Technician is responsible for the installation, adjustment, and maintenance of mobile electronics communication equipment on various watercraft and mobile platforms. This role requires a solid understanding of sound, sonar, security, navigation, and surveillance systems. Ideal candidates will possess hands-on technical experience, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in diverse environments.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain mobile electronics communication systems, including navigation and sonar technologies.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in electronic equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on electronic systems and components.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to integrate new technologies and systems into existing platforms.
  • Provide technical support and training to end-users on the operation of electronic equipment.
  • Document service reports and maintain accurate records of installations and repairs.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and regulatory changes affecting marine electronics.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Marine Electronics Technician or in a similar role related to mobile electronics.
  • Strong knowledge of marine electronics systems, including navigation, sonar, and communication technologies.
  • Technical certifications relevant to marine electronics (e.g., NMEA, ABYC) are preferred.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting electronic systems and using diagnostic tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
