Job Brief
As a Log Hauler, you will operate specialized logging equipment, including logging tractors and wheeled vehicles, to efficiently fell trees, skid, load, unload, and stack logs. You will be responsible for transporting timber from forests to processing sites, ensuring safety and compliance with industry regulations. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in logging operations, excellent driving skills, and a strong understanding of heavy machinery. This role is critical in the forestry sector, contributing to sustainable timber harvesting and management.
Responsibilities
- Operate logging tractors and wheeled vehicles equipped with accessories such as bulldozer blades, frontal shears, and cranes to perform logging tasks.
- Fell trees, skid logs, and transport timber from forested areas to loading sites.
- Load, unload, and stack logs safely while maintaining equipment and site safety protocols.
- Utilize stand-alone logging machines, including log chippers, to enhance timber processing efficiency.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on logging equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety.
- Assist in clearing brush and pulling stumps as required to maintain operational efficiency.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and environmental guidelines while conducting logging operations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional training in heavy machinery operation is preferred.
- Proven experience as a Log Hauler or in a similar role within the forestry or logging industry.
- Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) and clean driving record.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and experience with heavy equipment operations.
- Knowledge of safety standards and environmental regulations in logging operations.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and rugged terrain.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
