Job Brief
We are seeking a skilled Lock Fitter to join our team, responsible for repairing and opening locks, making keys, changing locks and safe combinations, and installing and repairing safes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in locksmithing, excellent problem-solving abilities, and exceptional attention to detail. This role requires hands-on experience and technical expertise in various locking mechanisms and security systems.
Responsibilities
- Repair and open various types of locks, including residential, commercial, and automotive locks.
- Fabricate keys and duplicate existing keys for clients using key cutting equipment.
- Change and reset combinations for safes and secure storage units.
- Install, maintain, and repair safes, ensuring optimal security for clients’ valuables.
- Provide expert advice on lock and security solutions tailored to customer needs.
- Conduct security assessments to recommend appropriate locking mechanisms and systems.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed and inventory of locks and keys.
- Keep up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in lock technology.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Lock Fitter or similar role in locksmithing.
- In-depth knowledge of various locking mechanisms and security systems.
- Strong technical skills with key cutting machines and locksmith tools.
- Certification or training in locksmithing is preferred.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Strong customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively.
- Valid driver’s license may be required for mobile locksmithing services.
