Job Brief
As a skilled Lapidarist, you will design, fabricate, and appraise intricate jewelry, utilizing your expertise in cutting, polishing, and setting precious and semi-precious stones. Your proficiency in working with gold, silver, and other precious metals will enable you to create high-quality pieces that meet customer specifications. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in gemology, a keen eye for detail, and experience in precision casting and modeling techniques.
Responsibilities
- Design and create custom jewelry pieces using various precious and semi-precious stones.
- Cut, polish, and set gems with precision to ensure the highest quality standards.
- Appraise gemstones and jewelry for quality and value, providing expert assessments.
- Utilize advanced techniques in casting, including precision casting and mold modeling.
- Repair and adjust existing jewelry to maintain or enhance its value and appearance.
- Collaborate with clients to understand their requirements and deliver tailored solutions.
- Maintain and operate specialized tools and equipment for gem cutting and polishing.
- Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and techniques to ensure competitiveness in the market.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Lapidarist or in a similar role within the jewelry industry.
- Strong knowledge of gemstones, metals, and jewelry design principles.
- Proficiency in using lapidary equipment and tools, including polishing machines and saws.
- Experience with casting techniques and mold design for jewelry production.
- Detail-oriented with exceptional hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
- Certification in gemology or relevant field is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients and team members.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
